Brief summary of the game

Low-poly Bird 3D is a 3D-ified version of the very popular Flappy Bird. The player plays as a bird that can move left and right, and can flap their wings in the air for mid-air jumps. Use these movement options to clear the pipe obstacles and set new high scores!

My contributions and findings

This 3D-game was written as a solo, which means all the mechanics shown in the demo are created by me. This was the first time I used the Unity Editor, which took getting used to, but it works very nicely.

During this project, I learned how to do multiple things with Unity.

First and foremost, how to set up objects with scripts and components. This is the baseline knowledge to work with Unity, but it was cool to learn nonetheless.

I also learned to work with the new UI-builder, which uses Unity Style Sheets to set up buttons and text.

Furthermore, I worked with prefabs, as well as building the game and publishing it to itch.io for everyone to play.

Working with Unity felt very satisfying, especially since I was already competent with the coding language used: C#.
